What We Believe

New Life metformin hcl 850 Mission Church holds to the classic formulations of Presbyterian theology which came out of the reformation period: the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms. In addition we govern ourselves by the Book of Church Order prepared by our denomination, Presbyterian Church in America.

The Presbyterian creeds contain many important affirmations, but among them are the following major teachings:

  1. The inspiration, inerrancy and authority of the Bible as the written Word of God.
  2. The sinfulness of all men and women and their resulting inability to seek out or please God by their own efforts.
  3. The death of the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, as an atoning sacrifice for His people. We believe that there is no salvation for anyone apart from faith in him.
  4. The salvation of sinners based solely upon the perfect and complete work of Jesus Christ—a salvation not merited by human effort, but received through faith as a gift from God.
  5. The person and work of the Holy Spirit, the third member of the divine Trinity, in drawing people to Christ, enabling them to believe on him, and strengthening them to live godly lives.
  6. The necessity for Christians to follow Jesus Christ and serve Him as their Lord.
  7. The church as a fellowship of Christ, committed to manifesting the love and compassion of Christ to one another.
  8. The privilege and power of prayer.
  9. The importance of fulfilling the Great Commission both here and abroad through the faithful training and sending of missionaries, church-planting, and personal evangelism.
  10. The return of Jesus Christ to judge all persons and to take those who have trusted him to heaven.

Core Values

  1. Christ-Centered Worship
    • We believe that worship is the apex of the Christian life.
    • We believe that God created man to glorify Him in all of life, but that this is done in a unique and special way in our Sunday worship service.
    • We believe that the primary means by which the believer receives grace is through the faithful preaching of God’s Word and administration of the Sacraments.
  2. Missional
    • We are committed to overseas missions.
    • We believe that our members are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world to our local community.
    • We desire to serve the needs of our local community.
  3. Networking with Other Christian Entities
    • We believe that in order to more effectively advance the kingdom of God, it is valuable and beneficial to partner with other churches and Christian organizations and share resources.
  4. One Congregation, One Session (Multi-Generational)
    • We are a single congregation holding separate services in Korean and English.
    • We have one session over the entire congregation made up of both Korean and English-speaking elders.
    • One of the goals of our one-church model is to build and maintain strong inter-generational relationships within the church.
  5. Christian Education
    • We believe that as believers we should have a strong foundational knowledge of the Word of God.  Therefore, in addition to participating in Sunday worship, we also encourage members to attend Bible studies offered after worship and/or during the week.
    • This commitment to an in-depth knowledge of God’s Word extends to our youth and children, for whom there are separate Bible study times after Sunday service and during the week.
  6. Covenant Community
    • We are believers adopted by God as sons and daughters and, therefore, one family united in Christ.  Within this family we strive to build gospel-centered relationships, care for one another, and spur one another on towards love and good deeds.
  7. Reformed Beliefs
    • We are committed to the biblical truths of the Reformation.  Therefore, we emphasize God’s glorious sovereignty in our salvation, in our worship, and in all of life.  We trust and rejoice in our covenant God who has revealed His grace and truth in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
    • We believe, as the subordinate standard, that the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms are the fullest and clearest expression of the system of doctrine taught in Scripture.
