Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

We are recruiting a medical/dental and general ministry team for a weekend trip February 5-7, 2010. This team will be lead by Dr. John Kaddis, a ruling elder at Cornerstone Community Presbyterian (PCA) church in Artesia, CA. The work will be serving an elderly group home in west Tijuana known as Asilo El Refugio. The resident population of over 100 persons will be served with medical and dental services as well as other personal and facility needs. There is also a variety of non-medical work to be done from cleaning and maintenance to personal care such as shaving, haircutting, massage, etc. Most of the residents are there because they can no longer care for themselves and do not have family or their family has refused to take them in. All of the residents delight in receiving attention so there is a wide range of things that can be done to meet these needs from personal beside Bible reading and prayer (some of them speak English) and delivering refreshments to room-bound residents, to singing, drama, and other activities.

Overnight accommodations will be in a nearby Presbyterian church (Mision Monte Horeb) where there will be floor space for your mat and sleeping bag, along with separated rustic bathroom facilities. Meals will be supplied by church members and/or restaurants. The cost per person is $153 and this includes all the costs including transportation (we’ll be renting van(s), so there will be one or more rendezvous points where we’ll meet in SoCal). The basic schedule will be arrival on Friday night with orientation and set-up. Saturday will be all day clinic and service. Sunday morning will be worship and return to California. Depending on group desires and Sunday commitments, there may be a group departing Saturday evening.

This is a medical short term trip organized under the oversight of Mission to the World (http://www2.mtw.org/home/site/templates/splash.asp), a ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America, however, it is open (first come, first served) to all believers who desire to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in this way.

If you have questions or desire to participate, please contact me directly. Please consider announcing and promoting this opportunity within your local church.
