We at New Life Mission Church of Fullerton believe that the greatest joy and highest privilege of the believer is to worship the Lord in His very presence. And although every follower of Christ should glorify God in all areas of life, we believe that this is done in a very special and distinct way on the Lord’s Day. Therefore, it is our hope that both Christians and non-Christians may better understand the thought process and gospel-logic that undergirds our worship service. Ultimately, we seek to worship the Lord in a manner that is pleasing to Him which, in turn, will be most edifying to us. With that supreme goal in mind, we hold to the following principles:
Glory to God: Worship is ultimately for the Lord, and therefore our service should be done in the way God desires it to be as revealed in His Word.
Sermons: The preaching is the central act of the worship service in which God speaks to encourage and edify His people. It is an ordinary means of grace in which God continually transforms us into the image of His Son. Our sermons are expositional in that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, they seek to explain the meaning of the biblical text. They are also Christ-centered so that the richness of the passage is most fully seen in light of the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Sacraments: We believe that Christ has instituted two sacraments: the Lord’s Supper and Baptism. Both are ordinary means by which God communicates the blessings of salvation for the edification of His people. The Lord’s Supper is administered on the first Sunday of the month, while Baptism is administered when necessary.
Liturgy: Every church has a liturgy, which is simply an order of worship. Therefore, our worship seeks to have an order that is biblically informed and gospel-centered. Our service has four parts: Praise, Repentance, Grace, and Thanksgiving. There is a gospel-logic to this order in that we first praise God, then we confess our sins and seek renewal, then God speaks to us through His Word, and finally we respond with thanksgiving.
Music: The music we sing is simple, but worshipful. We seek to incorporate both hymns as well as more contemporary songs that praise our great God and His mighty works. There is an overall emphasis and strong encouragement for the congregation to sing as one body with one voice.
Children: Children of believing parents are understood to be full covenant members, and, as a result, are encouraged to worship with their parents throughout the duration of the service. A nursery for young children is provided during a portion of the service for use at the parents’ discretion with the ultimate goal of having children worship with their families and the rest of the body of Christ.
Heart: We believe that the heart is the control center of the person and the wellspring of life. It is therefore our deepest desire that each person prayerfully prepare himself or herself and his or her family to come into the very presence of God to worship. It is our hope that the gospel may first touch the hearts of the people so that they may worship in Spirit and Truth.
Please join us every Sunday for worship at 10am. We look forward to celebrating the Lord’s day together.
